Their offerings have expanded from some affordable and reliable condensers to a wide range of handheld dynamic mics, small-diaphragm condensers, dedicated drum mics, ribbon microphones, a USB microphone, and high-quality accessories like reflection filters, pop filters, and in-line preamps.
sE are constantly innovating and their mics deliver a full, high-quality sound that has been used on stages and studios the world over. Rather than being assembled through cheap mass production techniques, all sE mics are hand-made by engineers in their own factory.
Founded by composer, conductor, and bassoon player Siwei Zou in the year 2000, sE Electronics was inspired by Zou's years on scholarship study in California, where he started making his own condenser microphones. Upon returning to Shanghai, sE Electronics were founded and released their first microphone in 2002.
sE Electronics' products took off due to the excellent price-to-performance ratio, becoming a stalwart choice for home recording musicians, project studios, and professional studios alike. As they expanded their designs, they found a place in live sound reproduction too.
Hand-built and designed from scratch, sE microphones house their own design, engineering, and production teams to bring their microphones to life. sE have even collaborated with legendary audio engineer Rupert Neve on a series of microphones. Whatever you need to record, sE have a product tailored to what you're looking for.
sE Electronics remains family-owned, having been passed down to Siwei's daughter Ling in 2008. Ling continues to oversee the company to this day.
